Question : Hello doctor! I am writing because want to make some questions about my hashimoto thyoiridy problem. I suffer from hashimoto from 6 years with using eutirox from that time and everything went stable with checking the values from time to time. today I made the analysis and the result was the 18.79. the other parameters like Ft3 and Ft4 went ok. I have consulted my Dr and he told me to raise the dosage of eutirox from.75 to 100 mg. Should I be worried with this values? does eutirox cause something bad to the organism? I am currently breastfeeding, is this related to the norms and values and should I stop breastfeeding my 14 month old girl? Another one last question, Its from the birth that the menstrual cycle has not come back, and I have to make a check up, but can this kind of problem be related to my thyroid problems? Thank you?

Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone through your concerns carefully.

Hashimoto thyroiditis (the most common cause of Hypothyroidism is underactive thyroid) is usually worsened after giving birth and TSH is expected to be higher in this period.

It means that higher doses of levothyroxine are needed.
Levothyroxine is a hormone identical to that produces by the thyroid and for this reason is not harmful to the baby.

Meanwhile, it is very important to keep normal hormonal values while breastfeeding.

There is no need to stop breastfeeding but a high TSH can be the cause of the absence of the menstrual cycle.

Once TSH is corrected, the cycle will get back to normal.
