Question : Hello doctor, how does someone treat dandruff?
Brief Answer:
Ketoconazole or ciclopirox olamine shampoo, oral anti fungals
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
For dandruff I would recommend you to use a ketoconazole shampoo or ciclopirox olamine shampoo twice weekly.
In severe cases of dandruff oral anti fungals are required like tablet fluconazole 150 mg twice weekly or capsule itraconazole 100 mg once daily.
Oral anti fungals are prescription drugs and should be taken under the supervision of the doctor.
