Question : Hello dr sharka I am back I wanted to follow up with you so for the last 3 weeks on and off I have been having sturnum pain and rib pain along the opening of the stomach so the bottom of sturnum as well as upper mid sturnum pain my concern is that the stomach one bothers me and wanted to make sure it isn not cardiac related seems it happens an hour or so after I eat and doesn’t matter what I eat just want to see if you think I should do further cardiac tests

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to the stomach, especially considering its periodicity and the time relation with food intake.

For this reason, I would recommend performing a fibrogastroscopy. Another test to consider would be breath or stool test for Helicobacter Pylory, which is a bacteria, that may be present in the stomach and lead to gastritis or ulcer.

I would exclude any cardiac disorders, based on your description.

So, I don't think that you should perform any additional cardiac tests.

Hi thank you what about the upper sturnum pain I get like sneezing or moving a certain way sometimes it comes on for no reason could this be cardiac or maybe something else

Thank you for the additional information!

Your symptoms are not suggestive of any cardiac disorders.

In fact a musculoskeletal pain can not be excluded, as your symptoms are triggered by body movements.

So, a chest X ray study and inflammation tests would help investigate on this possible cause.

But, I would not recommend performing any further cardiac tests, as I am sure that they will result normal.

In my opinion it is just fibromyalgia or costochondritis.

I don't think that it is related to the heart.

Gastritis may mimic this situation too.

For this reason, I would recommend taking an antiacid or PPI ( omeprazole or pantoprazole).

Anyway, I would exclude the heart as possibly related to your symptoms .
So try to relax and don't worry about it!
