Question : Hello, for some reason I keep getting a burning tongue, mouth, back of throat, itchy cheeks and burning lips eating things I have eaten before. I’m not talking about just one food I’m talking about multiple foods. It makes no sense. I look at my tongue there is nothing. No rash or swelling. I suffer from gerd and health anxiety. What is going on. I saw an allergist 4 years ago for a skin prick test and nothing came up and I checked a lot of different things.

Brief Answer:
Get done vitamin b 12 level.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
Most common cause for your symptoms is vitamin B12 deficiency.
So get done vitamin b 12 level and if Deficiency then you will need supplements.
Along with vitamin B12, folic acid, niacin, pyridoxine etc vitamin deficiency can also cause similar symptoms.
So please let me know
1. Have you ever checked for blood levels of these vitamins?
2. Is your anxiety under control? I am asking this because uncontrolled anxiety can also cause similar symptoms.
Please reply me answers of above asked questions so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
