Question: Hello i hit my finger around a year ago with a rugby ball it wasn't hard but it hurt and was swollen i got an X-Ray and they said it was fine but I've had a lump on the joint above the knuckle. Brief Answer:
Can be due to a tendon injury.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The appearance of swelling in the area of knuckle after an injury can be due to an injured tendon or a tendon sheath injury. This can also happen due to a malunited or a displaced bone. If there is no pain in the movements of the finger then any bone related cause is less likely. You need to get a fresh X-ray of the area done. A direct examination will help in confirmation of the cause.
I hope this answers your query.

I heard that your finger length should be around 7/8 of your hand or around that but by palms are really big in comparison to my fingers? Is this a problem because my hand is wider than my dads and his palm to finger length is fine 8/10 and so are my mums.

Brief Answer:
This is normal.

The relative size of fingers and palm is not a problem as long as they function properly. There is no fixed ratio of fingers and palms. The growth depends on multiple factors including genes. This is normal. No need to worry.
