Question: Hello, i'd like to enquire about throat hpv. I feel numbness in my tongue and i have swollen lymph nodes on my right jaw. I searched online and keep seeing throat cancer but just started few months ago. I went to the doctor he inspirected my throat with a camera, he also checked my voice box. Then he said i have an infection in my throat , prescribed antibiotics and some pain killers, he also said it wasn't that serious for me to be worried. But am still worried, it discomforts me alot.

Brief Answer:
Not much like throat cancer, possibly candida infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I don't think you may be having cancer symptoms since you are not experiencing symptoms like voice hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, throat mass etc.
The lymph nodes that you are feeling on your right jaw may be caused by a previous infection and can remain there for longer.
They don't increase in size and are painful only if you press on them.
Doing a fibroscopy as you did and having negative results excludes cancer.
Also you are too young age and throat cancer is not typical for that age.
I would recommend you to do a throat swap to check for staphylococcus, streptococcus infection or candida infection.
I think most probably you may be having candida infection.
Using antibiotics doesn't resolve this issue but can make it worse.
If you result candida positive taking antifungal medications is advisable.
You can find antifungal lozenges over the counter in pharmacy.
Also oral antifungals such fluconazole may be used if lozenges and mouthwash doesn't resolve this issue.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
