Question : Hello my foot has been hurting for over a week now.. it is sore to walk on and when I flex it I feel pain on the outside of my foot and on the top of my foot..it seems a little swollen around the ankle. It is only on the right foot.. what could it be ? Could I have fractured it .. I do not remember injuring it.. should I see a podiatrist or an orthopedic? Should I give it more time to heal? Thanks so much.. it does not hurt when you I am stationary and I can use the bike and elliptical without any real problem.. it is when I get off the machine and try to walk that is it painful.. thanks

                                    Brief Answer:
Can be due to arthritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the foot and ankle that you are having can be due to arthritic changes in the ankle joint or related to stress or osteoporosis. Any fracture is less likely as there is no acute pain and you can bear weight on it. But it is best to get it examined by an orthopedician for proper diagnosis.
You can avoid all the painful activities and start with a mild pain killer and calcium supplements and see if it helps. Doing a hot compress will also help.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Is it related to the heart? They always ask me when I go to the cardiologist if I have any swelling in my feet? They found a abdominal anerysm of 3.0 on my last ultrasound can that cause my foot to swell and hurt? Can a blood clot cause the pain? Thanks so much!!

                                    Brief Answer:
Not related to cardiac issue.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Your one foot only is affected. So it is not likely to be related to any cardiac cause or the abdominal aneurysm.
A blood clot causes pain and swelling in the calf and not the foot. This is more likely to be arthritis.
