Question : Hello, my wife (age 48) has had high lymphocyte percentage (53% in 2014, 46% in 2016, 43% in 2018 and now 53% in 2020) as shown up in her Haemogram. In the 2020 Annual Health Check, her Potassium count is also slightly elevated 5.22 (as against an upper normal of 5.1 nmol/litre). She does not have any physical symptoms or limitations. Is there a cause for worry? What follow up checks should I get done?

Brief Answer:
You can go for a peripheral smear just for reassurance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Lymphocytes may increase in minor infections. Slightly elevated lymphocyte is quite common and does not cause any problems. However you can go for a peripheral smear to rule out any hematological causes just for reassurance.
You can repeat the serum potasium after few months and as of now no treatment required.
Thanks
