Question: Hello, please review the attached blood test. I have asked about NON HDL CHOLESTEROL, HEMOGLOBIN A1c, and ABSOLUTE NEUTROPHILS results in a previous question, but can you provide your impression of the HS CRP results? The latest results are for March 2020, but past results are included for context.

Note: Due to an enlarged aorta (i.e. Aorta at sinus of Valsalva 46 mm), my doctor has prescribed Lisinopril 5mg Tablets, Metoprolol ER Succinate 25mg Tabs, and Rosuvastatin 10mg Tablets. These results are BEFORE starting these medications.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
SIGNIFICANCE OF MARGINALLY HIGH HS CRP

Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor"service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query/reports and here is my opinion.

The significance and clinical use of HS CRP is still debatable.

High Sensitivity CRP is a protein released in blood stream whenever the blood vessel walls gets damaged.

As low level of inflammation and atherosclerotic changes are associated with CVD so some clinicians use hs-CRP levels in conjunction with lipid profile and phospholipase levels as a predictor of risk of cardiovascular diseases.

It's values might change if patient had a recent illness, infection, inflammation or injuries.

As per some studies,hs-CRP can play a role in the evaluation process of cardiovascular disease before a person develops clinical symptoms but clinical trials are still on.

In my opinion, there is no point in following your hs CRP values so closely.
You already have dyslipidaemia which itself is a cardiovascular risk factor.
Control your cholesterol levels by life style, dietary modifications and drug treatment.
This will take care of the health of your heart and reduce the overall risk in the long run.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
