Question : Hi.
55 y/o male, no significant mefical hx, no hx uti or known prostate issues, seen in urgent care late last night c/o 36 hrs fever 102, urinary urgency, frequency, sensation incomplete bladder emptying . denied pain or burning on urination. No hx sexual intercourse for 2 weeks. Dx UTI on urinalysis. prescribed course of ciproflixacin. Getting married tomorrow !
Is it ok to have sex ? or does that need to wait ? please advise .

Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted you seem to have Acute UTI .

Get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water to keep urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

Refrain from having sex till you are free from all the symptoms as there is risk of you transmitting infection to your partner.
