Question : Hi Doc,

I was on my 6th day on PEP and I already take the PEP after 24 hrs of the unprotected sex incident, but the thing is that they prescribe me tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (tenvir) and aluvia, is it effective for the PEP or should I change.

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

Tenofovir with Lopinavir and Ritonavir is approved regime for PEP as is the standard regime of Tenofovir, emtricitabine and raltegravir. In fact the Aluvia regime has good tolerability and therefore mor likely to be completed by the patient.
