Question : Hi Doc, This query is related to my fiance she is having blood discharge like a period since yesterday. She had her periods last month 22/06/2019 and we had protective sex at that time, and her periods generally last for 3 days. We again had sex on 29th last month, and it was her 2nd time and she was having little pain while intercourse. Now after 3 days or so she is having blood like in the time of the periods, Moday evening she had the discharge and today whole day multiple time. We don't know why this is happening what can cause this kind of problem, she is of 35, please guide us, is this a indication of pregnancy, or something else as we had protective sex.

                                    Brief Answer:
Not seems to be related to pregnancy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The bloody discharge after intercourse is not suggestive of pregnancy. This can happen due to an injury to the genital tract due to rough intercourse or due to a hormonal disturbance.
In case the bleeding is mild then you can wait for next 1-2 days and see if it stops gradually.
In case the bleeding is heavy and persistent then do consult a Gynecologist for a direct examination and proper treatment.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow-up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

                                    Brief Answer:
Pregnancy can be ruled out after regular periods.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Pregnancy can be ruled out only after she gets her regular periods. The bleeding she is having now is due to hormonal disturbance and is not her regular period. You should avoid having sex during the fertile days of the cycle- Day 8-18 of the cycle. To be very sure you can get her blood test done for HCG at least 12-14 days after the last intercourse. This will definitely rule out the pregnancy.
Hope my answer is helpful.
