Question: Hi Doctor - I have suddenly developed tinnitus which is loud and continuous. Earlier it was minimal. I have severe heaviness of head and headaches too. I am 55 years old female, with no other health problems.

Hii.
Welcome to the Ask A Doctor service.

There are many causes of tinnitus. But you have headache also. Do a hearing test to know your hearing status: pure tone audiogram and impedance audiogram. Do a MRI brain as any tumor in cp angle, any vascular malformation can cause severe headache along with hearing loss and tinnitus. For now don't stay in noiseless areas as it will increase the tinnitus. Consult an Ent surgeon and a neurosurgeon also. Are you having any giddiness also? If the MRI report came to be normal then no need to worry. Profound hearing loss can also present with tinnitus with heaviness of head.
