Question : Hi Doctor, 2 years back I had a very heavy headache which was continous for 20-25 days and fever at nights for a week at that period of time. Upon many tests, some bacterial infection happened and as per the doctors prescription i have taken tablets and medicine, recovered from fever. But slowly recovered from headache. But in 2 years i have got head ache twice and i sit in calm area zone to relax which i feel better from that day on i see when i bow my head down on the front end after sometime there is so much heaviness and pain and after 5min when i keep my head straight, it gets settled down and everything looks fine. What could be the cause? Do i need to go for a check up? Or anything to be followed. Could you please let me know.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be primary headache

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concern. Headaches are broadly of two types, primary and secondary. A secondary headache occurs when the primary ailment is something else, eg. a tumor. A MRI of the brain will help in ruling out such a cause. A primary headache is where the headache is the primary ailment, as in case of migraine or tension type headache. Your headache could be due to migraine but a careful correlation of the history is needed for the same. You definitely need to go for a checkup. Your doctor will be able to examine you and undertake tests as needed. He would also be able to write the medicines that are needed. There are medicines that can prevent migranous headaches from occurring and you might need one of those.
