Question : Hi Doctor. I am 33 years old man. When I was 5 years old, I had worms in my stomach. At that time, I was given medicine and worms were flushed out. Now, since last 3 days, I have itching in my anus. And, it is disturbing. Can you please prescribe me the medicine for it and its doses. Regards Amit

Before advising drug for worm infestation, it's necessary to ascertain the type of worm infestation ...because the dosage of the drug depends on the type of worm infestation.

Thinking of life history of worms and considering symptom of anal itching you have...(no history of blood in stools, big roundworm being passed)...I guess it's Threadworm.

The drug commonly used is for the worm is Albendazole. The dose is calculated by considering the patient's weight and health as well as the severity of symptoms&also type of worms infesting.

Please consult your family physician for physical assessment of your health, stools examination to confirm type of worms, and then prescribe specific drugs in suitable dosage for you&also how many courses need to be repeated followed by a suitable gap between courses.
