Question : Hi Doctor, I am suffering from cold , cough from last two weeks. There was a bit of throat pain in the last week which is better now and no fever. I do not have any travel history in the last few months. Can you please suggest any medication as the cold is not getting better by itself or I should get myself tested.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There is an infection going around currently that has ccorona like symptoms but less of fever. This infection could be corona itself or maybe flu. Needs testing to confirm. Complete blood count and chest XRay can be done but there is a risk of exposure to actual corona in hospitals.
It responds partially to amoxicillin-clavulanic combination. Also it is taking a long time (many weeks) to heal. So the medicine should be taken if breathing difficulty develops.

Anyways stay in isolation as this infection is also very contagious and could be corona. Take all precautions for corona. Soap is good disinfectant against most viruses including corona. So wash regularly and keep mouth covered when around people.
