Question : Hi Doctor,

I%E2%80%99m after some advice.

For the past 2 months I have been experiencing the following symptoms;
- occasional acid reflux
- Lots of burping
- Indigestion feeling
- Tummy cramps between the naval and sternum area
- Bloated feeling under sternum
- Sometimes BM can feel urgent and other days I feel a little constipated.

I have had the following tests;
- Full blood count (normal results)
- Liver, gallbladder and pancreases enzyme blood test (normal results)
- H. Pylori breath test (negative)

My doctor has put me on Omeprazole once a day. I have only taken this for 4 days but I haven%E2%80%99t seen much of a change yet.

Should I be asking for more tests? Like an ultrasound? X-ray? Gastroscope?

What does this sound like to you? I%E2%80%99m naturally a very anxious person and these tummy issues aren%E2%80%99t helping.

Brief Answer:
The symptoms are typical of GERD( gastroesophageal reflux disease)

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
The symptoms and signs you have described typically suggestive of GERD ( gastroesophageal reflux disease).
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back esophagus ( food pipe). This backwash (acid reflux) can irritate the lining of your food pipe and cause symptoms.
Lifestyle modifications and antacids( PPI) are the treatment of choice. Avoid spicy foods and reduce the alcohol consumption.
Antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole has to be taken and long term treatment is needed for best results.
You have to go for an endoscopy to know the severity of the disease.
Consult a gastroenterologist and he will direct you accordingly.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks
