Question : Hi Doctor, My wife has pain under left side of her ribs. Could this be Gastritis? What medicine do you recommend?

It can be Gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain due to Gastritis can be felt in the middle of the Abdomen in upper aspect or below ribs on left side.
I prescribe Tablet Rabeprazole 20mg before breakfast to my patients with similar complaints.
She should avoid Spicy food, Carbonated drinks, Caffeine products etc.
Nothing to worry.
If there is no response, please get an Ultrasound abdomen, Upper GI Endoscopy.

Thank you for your reply. So, in a day how many times is she supposed to take this medicine? Also, doe how many days should I take this medicine before seeing a doctor and getting tests done, in case pain doesn't recedes.

She can take twice daily

Hi
Rabeprazole 20mg can be taken twice daily before food.
Initially,she can start once daily before breakfast After 1 week,she can take twice daily if there is no response.
If there is no response even after 1 month after starting treatment,she should be investigated.
