I am 30 yrs old male I noticed mild pain on upper side of chest when I press. Please explain me why is it happening and what should do...

Hi,

Thank you for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have experienced pain on upper chest while pressing by hand.

Such type of condition may be resulted from a harmless condition that is known as costochondritis. Costochondritis is the inflammation of the cartilage which connects your ribs and it feels tender, you may have it. Some studies has shown that 30% of those complaining of chest pain had costochondritis.

Some investigations like CBC, CXR, ECG etc to exclude the other causes. In the meantime, you can take painkillers like ibuprofen, naproxen or aceclofenac along with antiulcerants to reduce your pain. You can apply hot compresses to the area and restrict the physical movements that make the pain get worse. Sometimes, corticosteroids may be needed for subsiding your pain.
