Question : Hi Dr. I was wondering what does this result means; positive with a noise swab for Mycoplasma. I'm caughing up think yellow stuff and running fevers. My XRAY came back great. Does this mean I have a sinus infection or ?? They put me on the Zpack! please help me understand what's going on.

Hii. You are having inflammation of your upper respiratory tract specially nose. Yes, you are having nose and sinus infection.The causative organism is Mycoplasma pneumoniae which is bacterial in nature. You are coughing also thick yellow sputum. So the doctors have put you on antibiotic to prevent infection. You are on right medication. Please take some nasal spray and betadine gargle. Take steam inhalation and anti allergic tablet. Rest believe in your physician.

Hii. No need to worry. Follow the advice. You can have infection irrespective of you have earlier or not. You can spread the infection to others as you have attend the infection from others. But you continue the treatment and get yourself treated. You can have exercise but take rest for few days.
