Question : Hi Dr., My 2.6 year old son is having abdominal pain at night and he is getting disturbed during sleep. Can I give Decolic for this?

Hi...
I understand your concern.

You can give him Decolic.
But I would prefer you deworming him too.

The possibilities are -

1. Worm infestation.
This can be managed by over the counter deworming medications. I suggest Pyrantel Pamoate available as OTC.
>2 years: 11 mg (base)/kg orally 2 doses 2 weeks apart - not to exceed 1 g/dose.


2. Mesenteric adenitis.
This is swelling of the lymph nodes in the origin which is most commonly viral in origin and is self-limiting.
