Management of hair loss and itchy scalp
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and there are many causes of hair loss and treatment depends on the cause.
The most common causes encountered are hormonal imbalance, anemia, deficiency of vitamin D and vitamin B 12 levels, thyroid dysfunction, certain drugs and diseases, recent history of fever like typhoid, dengue, accidents, surgery, crash dieting and stress.
I would recommend you to get your thyroid function tests, serum vitamin D and vitamin B 12 levels, haemoglobin and serum ferritin levels.
Meanwhile take antihistaminic like tablet fexofenadine 180 mg once daily for 20 days.
Also start with hair supplements like tablet follihair A once daily and apply minoxidil 5 percent lotion on the affected areas twice daily.
You need to continue these medicines for 4-5 months to see significant results.

Thank you very much for your follow up.
I will get my blood tests done as soon as possible.
Meanwhile could you kindly recommend a remedy for itchiness in my scalp ?
Is that something that could be treated generically ?
Thanks

Welcome
Detailed Answer:
You can take tablet fexofenadine 180 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
Also you can apply steroid lotion like mometasone lotion on the affected areas twice daily for 10 days.
Once itching improves then you can start with minoxidil lotion twice daily and tablet containing biotin 5 mg once daily.
These are simple tests.
They can be done at any laboratory near you.
