Question: Hi I am 46 year old female. I am currently 6 days late for my period. For the past year my periods have changed schedule usually occuring 5 to 6 days earlier than normal never late. I had a ct scan about a month ago for an unrelated issue and a small 2 cm cyst was found. The scan was reviewed bu my gyno and I was told it was a functional cyst that would go away on its own. Could my late period be related to this cyst or could it be a function of my age?

Brief Answer:
Probably due to menopause

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms can be related to your age.You may be approaching to menopause. This is because oestrogen levels start to decrease, and ovulation becomes less regular.
I would also like to know if you are sexually active.
In such a case, you should also do a pregnancy test to exclude pregnancy.

Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!

I have taken a pregnancy test and it came back negative. Was just concern that missing period was related to cyst. Should I be seen by my gyno or is it safe to wait for my annual which is about two months away?

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,

I think it is safe to wait until your annual visit.
Just in case that you have other symptoms such as pelvic pain or a fever, you can see the gynecologist sooner.

Hope it helps,
