Question : Hi

I am 8 weeks pregnant now. Conceived with IVF. Had an ultrasound on in 6th week. Baby is normal. From last two days, I am having brown watery discharge with cramps and back pains. However, there is nothing on my panty. It's just that whenever I pee, something comes out. Also if I wipe with a tissue ,there is brown blood. But the cramps and pain has increased. And seems like I am not feeling nausea anymore, which I used to have every morning. I am really scared. Doc has put me on progesterone injections , duphaston 3 times a day and Crinone gel, twice a day. I don't what might have caused this. But this discharge started with 3-4 drops of blood also, which got me scared. Please guide me, if everything is OK?

Hi,

I understand your concerns.

There is implantation bleeding when the baby tries to burrow and take place in the womb. Baby will be covered by blood vessels to supply nutrients and oxygen.

It is normal to have spotting in early pregnancy as you described.

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for the reply. In my 6 weeks ultrasound, it came out that one sac has baby and there is one more empty sac with blood.
Can this second empty gestational sac be reason for this brown bleeding. The worrysome thing for me is , I have having cramps and back.pain along with this brown discharge. I hope this isn't a negative sign.

This looks fine and nothing to worry. It happens in some pregnancies. Another sac with blood could be a reason for bleeding.

I don’t think there is any reason to worry. continue the medicines as prescribed.
