Question : Hi. I am a 22 yr old female who up until a XXXXXXX has no gyn issues. I thought I had my very first yeast infection but did not think much of it bc it did not smell nor did I notice discharge. I had a VERY light/spotty period (not like me at all....I have had normal-heavy periods EVERY month since I was 11) but the itching from what I thought was a yeast infection went away. As soon as my “period” stopped the itching came back. I tried azo and monistat but it did not work so I saw my dr. She said it was BV and gave me a yeast pill and flagil. I took them both and a week later the symptoms were back. This brings to me yesterday. I started spotting again and it is very much not like my body to ever spot. So I called back and they said to take another round of flagil which I did. Itching is gone (for the most part) but I have been spotting again and this is just so not like me. What could be causing this? I haven’t had a period since may and there is no way I’m pregnant and it is not like my body to skip a period or spot. I have had a period every month since I was 11

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting us about your healthcare.
I have gone through your history and understand your concern.

Spotting in your case could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by vaginal infection or other hormonal problems like PCOD and thyroid imbalance.

You can wait and watch for the same in this cycle and get if persistent get your paps smear and hormonal test to rule out the possible cause of your symptoms.

Hope you found this useful, feel free to ask for more information.

Good luck
Regards

So far today, the spotting from yesterday has stopped (which this would be the time for my July period)
My initial thought was that this was a Hormonal issue from the infection. I have an appointment on Tuesday but I was getting anxious and wanted to talk about it was a dr now. If it is in fact a hormonal imbalance bc of the infection, what are the options for treatment

In your case,it could be due to hormonal imbalance
You can take M2 tone Syp. for spotting and multivitamins.
Other medications you can start after investigations.

Oh okay thank you. I looked up the m2 tone syrup and it doesn’t seem to be available in the US.... is there another alternative that you know of?

Hello dear,
You are most welcome.
Menoreg is another alternative Syp.for the same, otherwise first rule out the cause of spotting than take hormonal treatment.
