Hi there,
Thanks for the query
It's possible you likely have degenerative arthritis of the knee. This tends to aggravate when movements are made after a period of immobilization.
Apply warm packs to the knee for relief. Avoid knee-bending beyond comfortable limits.
It would be best to get an x-ray to confirm.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Hi, thank you for that response however I don't think you quite understood my statement. It doesn't hurt when I get up after being immobile. It's quite the opposite. It does not hurt at all when I am on it. It hurts while I am sitting for a period of time, like a toothache. And especially when lying in bed in the morning before rising. Then , upon rising, it immediately goes away. Also, I do have arthritis, but it doesn't bother me in my knees. And if it did, wouldn't it hurt from movement, not begin hurting when resting, and not at all with activity?

Hi
Sitting for a period of time or lying down is defined as a period of immobility the after which you started being XXXXXXX by moving your knee to weight bear.
I believe your knee gets stiff during this period of immobility when it then hurts when you start to bend it or stand on it.
Osteoarthritis can cause stiffness of the knees and pain. An xray can help to know the stage of arthritis.

Hi, Let me be more clear. I never said it gets stiff. it doesn't. I never said I had any limited motion. I have no problem bending it, or with weight bearing or walking. it just hurts, not gets stiff, not unable to bend, it just hurts like a deep toothache when I sit or lay down. Then as soon as I get up, a soon as I stand, it's fine. Not stiff, doesn't hurt. Only when I'm NOT using it.

If the weather has gotten cooler, this can have an effect on Osteoarthritis knees and make them more painful.
It would be wise to get a recent xray since this new pain to look for any progression in arthritis.

Nevermind. that still does not explain the problem I'm describing. It is not the weathe r . This has been ongoing like this for several months, not better or worse with weather changes. Constant. And only when I'm off of it. Does not stiffen up or get sore when I move after sitting, no limitation of movement when it hurts, it is just gone as soon as I stand.

Hi, none of the infections you mentioned, however I was diagnosed with gout when I was 26 years old in my heel. over the years I have episodes of this kind of deep ache flare up when I eat certain foods in excess. it is usually in my hand or elbow, self diagnosed though. usually from eating too much shellfish.i did initially think it was gout , but gout usually only lasts a few days. I've never had it for this long. And it's never been this constant.
