Question: Hi I am in East XXXXXXX and good Drs are not easy to find for us sadly.
I had bloods done in a private lab, as 5 weeks ago i developed shingles.
The rash has gone, the pain too, but I am still having daily fevers and chills.
My blood shows
Neutrophils @ 84.3%
Lymphocyes @ 9.9%
Monocytes @ 3.2 %
Eosinophils 2.4
Baso 0.2

Might this be that i have a bacterial infection, or can shingles do this to my blood?
I could not eat well for some time also.
Thank you ,John

Brief Answer:
Bacterial infection rather than viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear XXXXXXX welcome to Ask a doctor service. I read your query and here is my advice.

I see the blood test results you are writing but you can also upload the rest of them at reports.
You are having increased neutrophils percentage, decreased lymphocytes percentage and normal monocytes. Thus shows that you are suffering from a bacterial infection more than viral infection.
If it was only viral infection lymphocytes and monocyte should be elevated and neutrophils would be normal.
I can advise you to do an urine analysis also get checked the throat in order to check the place of infection.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
