Hi, I Had A Biopsy From My Stomach And Was

I had a biopsy from my stomach and was diagonised with Oxyntic/Antral Mucosa with chronic inactive gastritis and atrophy (h. pylori negative). It was stated that given the H. Pylori was absence, the presence of a chronic atrophic gastritis raises the possibility of a secondary autoimmune etiology and CD3 and CD20 immunostains highlight a mixed B and T-cell population.
Given the above what does this mean in layman's terms and is this something I should be worried about?
Please go through detailed answer dear.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Have seen your details my dear patient and I appreciate your concerns,
As the name suggest this means that there is Permanent/Very long lasting inflammation in the oxyntic part of stomach.Stomach is divided into four parts to study for medical students.Among them one is oxyntic. Now oxyntic part contains cells called oxyntic cells which produce acid in stomach. Now due to autoimmunity these glands starts to die off which may in future result in condition where stomach has no acid in it(As all oxyntic glands are dead).
So in short in future there are two risks-
1)Cancer(increased by 5%)
2)No acid in stomach.
This is a lay man's presentation of your case.
Every auto immune case is unique and intensity may vary from person to person i.e some may develop all problems while others may not have any.
Hope I was helpful,
Thank you!
