Question: Hi I had a random little health issue, I know the last two months I have been under more stress than I have in years.
My throat has a weird feeling down by my Adam's apple along the right side off and on for about 5-6 weeks, almost like a sore muscle or spasm that seems to be triggered with certain movements like bending over certain ways, manipulating my right side sometimes when I take a deep inhale or exhale. I can actually apply pressure and it seems to not act up as much but maybe that's just in my head lol. Im not sure if this is a mix of things possibly. I had started back CrossFit workouts around this same time this happened. I knew I had very sore muscles in my chest/shoulders/neck etc from some of the workouts. Also while I was working I have done too many things bending over and straining etc. So I actually brought up stomach acid during the workout and had to stop for a few mins, this also got me coughing throughout the day. So maybe I have irritated my throat from acid? I know from a previous endoscopy in 2011 I have an XXXXXXX that is weak as well as I have a hiatal hernia and acid reflux that has been well controlled for many years by diet. I also have currently had very bad TMJ episodes.

So basically I am feeling like an irritation to the right side of my adam's apple triggered by movements or sometimes randomly during breathing deep. I went to my Primary Care DR and she felt it was possibly acid reflux again. So I have started Pepcid 20mg 2 x day. I will make an appt with an ENT soon to get checked out. I just wanted to get another opinion as I'm all about data in my life and work.

My wife is a Nurse Practioner and has talked through some random ideas with me.
1. Silent Reflux
2. TMJ Flare-up
3. Acid Reflux
4. cricopharyngeal spasm

Brief Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. It seems that you are having acid

Detailed Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. It seems that you are having acid reflux along with allergic pharyngitis. Don't think too much in details about the cause of the throat irritation. This is a season of viral infection. And you are doing lots of exercises. So it's a mixed diagnosis of acid reflux along with allergic pharyngitis. Start with warm saline thrice daily. Take steam inhalation. Continue the antacid or proton pump inhibitor. You can take some antiallergic tablet like levocetrizine or allegra. If you are having any heaviness of chest of breathing difficulty, you can add montelukast or Allegra M. Take nasoclear nose drop. It will help in clearing the allergic mucus. Do some yoga and breathing exercises. Don't take stress. Drink plenty of fluids. Sleep after 2 hours of dinner. Add some multivitamin syrup and vit c rich fruits in the diet. The symptoms will disappear after following the advice. Don't make any vigorous jaw or neck movemnts. It will increase the pain. Please review if you have any queries.

Thanks for the response, that sounds correct. I guess as simplified follow up question. Since the pain or irritation is in one side could that be since I sleep on my right side acid reflux irritates it? Second the movement I do that I can feel in my throat is that just because it irritates or triggers a area that is effected maybe from alergic or acid? Ok leave you alone and thanks so so much

Brief Answer:
Hii. There is no relation to the sleeping side

Detailed Answer:
Hii. There is no relation to the sleeping side. The throat irritation is due to allergic pharyngitis along with acid reflux. You need not be overly worried. Kindly follow the advice suggested. You may review after 2-3 weeks.
