Hi! I Had Constipation This Week. My Schedule Changed And

Question: Hi! I had constipation this week. My schedule changed and I wasn’t able to go to the bathroom for several days. I finally went yesterday and noticed about three spots of bright blood when I wiped. Later that day I went to the bathroom and noticed a little mucus and a little more blood. Should this be checked. When I’ve been constipated I’ve noticed mucus before but not the little bit of blood too.

Your age and gender?
Was it dripping of blood during bowel movements or blood streaked stool?
Was bowel movement painful?
When was the last colonoscopy done?

I’m not sure if my reply went through. 39 so I haven’t had a colonoscopy yet. It wasn’t dripping. Just a few dots when I wiped on paper. Stool wasn’t streaked. It was dry I assume from not going for several days. It wasn’t painful but felt like when you have a hemorrhoid. I’m a worrier. Do you think this could be colon cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It does not look like colon cancer.
The bright red blood spots could be due to hemorrhoids.
Constipation leads to hemorrhoids. Since you are chronically constipated, hemorrhoids is the most likely cause. Colonoscopy may be done to confirm it.
You can take high fiber diet and fiber supplements like metamucil. You also need to drink lot of fluids.
