Question : Hi, I had some blood drawn last Tuesday morning. The place where they drew the blood has stayed red and bumpy and has slowly gotten itchier. Now about 1 square inch of red itchy bumps. Wanted to be sure I shouldn’t be concerned. Thanks

Brief Answer:
no need to be concerned

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
There is no need to be concerned since such skin reaction is common and self limiting. In most cases this is allergic reaction or minor thrombophlebitis at needle punction site. I suggest to apply antibiotic or mild steroid ointment, and cold compresses. Only if there is pus discharge seen, or fever associated with swelling, then you should consult doctor since it may indicate some more severe infection, however, as i said, this is rarely the case.Wish you good health. Regards
