                                            Question : Hi,
I have a decaying tooth on the right bottom side of my mouth. I was told I need a root canal, But I decided to get it pulled and an implant put in for health reasons. This morning I noticed some slight swelling around my sinus area, (my eye, nasal, and cheek area) on the same side as the tooth. Should this be cause for for concern, something I should get taken care of immediately and have the tooth pulled? I have a prescription for antibiotics but was told to take them only if it gets worse. side with the piercing

                                    Brief Answer:
Pain or swelling in sinus area is not due to lower jaw tooth
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Thanks for the query.
Well, the symptoms of sinus related infection and inflammation can be commonly due to infection in the upper jaw tooth and not the lower jaw.
So although there can be co- incidental infection in sinuses when there is ongoing dental treatment in lower jaw, but chances of sinus infection due to lower jaw tooth are less.
However you need to get the sinuses checked once and if there is infection then you should take antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicine.
But first get it checked..
Please let me know for more questions..
