Question : Hi. I have a phobia of feeling and being sick. When winter bugs are around I am wondering if either prochloroerazine and/or cyclising would help to prevent nausea if I caught a bug? (I am prescribed both as I get nausea and dizziness as a result of M.E.
I hope you can put my mind at rest. Many thanks, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

                                    Brief Answer:
I would recommend Prochloroerazine three times a day.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Dizziness and nausea are common side effects of myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome .
Prochloroerazine and cyclizine work both with the same mechanism.
I would recommend prochloroerazine which is more effective to treat nausea and dizziness.
You can take this medication three times a day if needed.
I would also recommend a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further

Could you tell me an answer to the question i was asking about whether in the case of a stomach bug i would be able to benefit from the same treatment? I think i am just looking for some reassurance to help me obsessing about this worry as i always do at this time of year when the bugs are more prominent.
Many thanks, and i look forward to hearing back.
Yours geatefully, XXXXXXX x

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,
Thank you for your question.
I can assure you that you can benefit from the same treatment in case of a stomach bug.
The treatment is very effective in case of nausea and dizziness.
I do not recommend you to take prochlorperazine in the long-term.
I suggest you to take the medications only if needed, so the side effects will be minimal.
Take care dear.
Warm Regards,
