Question : Hi I have a question about recent blood work I had done. My lymphocyte abs count was elevated at 3.7 (0.2-2.9 ref range). The doc didn't mention it but am looking online and it says high lymphocyte count means recent infection or leukemia. I haven't had any recent infections.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Brief Answer:
Leukaemia is very very unlikely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your lymphocytes are slightly elevated. It is not a sure sign of malignancy( cancer) but probably a sign of mild infection.
In some individuals the lymphocyte count persistently keeps above normal range as physiological variant.
You can repeat the test after a month and jf the values are still high, a peripheral smear examination can be done to look for any abnormal forms or malignant cells,
Wishing you good health. Thanks
