Hi, I Have A Sensation Of Fullness In The Right
Question: Hi,
I have a sensation of fullness in the right ear which could be caused by excessive ear wax.
I have had itchiness inside the ear and have noticed that the ear wax smells worse than usual.
I have tried using Audiclean saline solution and also tried usinga few drops of Waxsol (docusate sodium 0.5%) but the ear appears to feel more fully blocked.
Should I likely continue with current treatment or use hydrogen peroxide or should the wax be manually removed to remove the sensation of fullness?

Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. Wax is normal in the ear. So you can avoid removing the wax unless ghe ear fullness of block is very severe. Use waxol drop 5 drops 5 times per day. Apply drop until it fills the full ear. No need to use hydrogen peroxide. After the covid period is over visit an ent surgeon for wax removal. Continue the waxol drop for 3-4 week. Wax may come of its own if you apply ear drop properly for a long time. Please review if you have any queries.

I will continue with steps advised for now. However, I have a concern with the feeling of fullness. It is affecting hearing as my right ear can't hear most sounds. Also my balance is affected as when I was driving I didn't feel stable and seemed to have a difficult time keeping in the XXXXXXX There is no dizziness but it is as if the right ear cannot sense direction or help with balance.
The sensation seemed to have sudden onset and as mentioned the waxsol and saline wash made the sensation worse. Is it likely that if I visited the GP to have wax removed now, the sensation would go away immediately or would it still take some time to resolve?

Hii. There are few important causes for giddiness or reeling sensation of head. It can be due to BPPV or benign positional paroxysmal vertigo or Meniers diaease or any hypoactive labyrinth. If any ent consultant is available then visit him and get your ear cleaned of wax. Then if the ear drum is normal then you should do some tests like audiometry, ENG, Dixhallpike test. If any abnormality appears then it can be treated accordingly. You can also practice vestibular rehabilitation exercise at home. But if no Ent consultant is available then start with Tab Vertin twice daily for 1 week and put the waxol for ear wax. Please review of you have any queries.
