Question : Hi, I have a stomach flu which involves diarrhea, body aches and a bad cough. I went to the doctor yesterday and he prescribed me Dicyclomine for the stomach pain. It got rid of the pain, although I still have bad diarrhea - I was told not to use Immodium while on the Dicyclomine. Would it be OK for me to take a cough suppressant, such as Tylenol Cold & Flu, Nyquil, or Robitussin while on the Dicyclomine? Thank you.

                                    Brief Answer:
Use herbal based cough syrup.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think you better not to take any of these Tylenol Cold and flu, nyquil or robitusin. They can interact with dicyclomine increasing its side effects causing drowsiness and sleepiness and possibly can suppress breathing.
You can find in pharmacy a herbal based product such tussavit that contains thyme herbs or ribworth plantin leaves that don't interact with dicyclomine.
Hope I have answered the question .
