Question : Hi I have been getting small amount of blood less than a drop when I dab the inside septum of my nose both sides but especially the left one especially in the morning when I first wake up usually okay during the day. It has been going on for about 2 months. When reading online I was worried about leukemia? What are the nosebleeds like in leukemia? Thanks.
What about leukemia? When I looked up epistaxsis they mentioned leukemia. Is the nasal bleeding from leukemia different? Thanks.
Brief Answer:
There is no cause for worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. There are many simple routine causes for slight bleeding from the nose also known as epistaxis.
2. Leukemia is very rare. It can be easily diagnosed with a simple blood test. Leukemia also has many other symptoms. It affects the entire body, not just the nose.
3. A simple nasal examination by a local ent specialist and simple blood tests (Hemogram, Coagulogram) will help reveal the possible causes. Blood pressure and any concurrent medications should be checked. A nasal endoscopy will help.
4. Common causes for slight troublesome epistaxis are nasal allergies, infections, dryness, sinusitis, septal spurs, finger traumma, nasal vestibulitis and so on.
5. Hence you can rest assured that this is unlikely to be a standalone symptom of Leukemia.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
