Question : Hi I have been getting stomach pain that has worsened over the last few weeks, it's a dull pain on my left-hand side just under the rib cage and it's turned to a very sharp pain on and off throughout the day gradually getting stronger

Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

According to your symptoms of stomach pain on left, under ribcage, I think you are possibly suffering from gastritis, inflammation of stomach lining.
To check it your doctor may perform fybroscopy, inserting a camera tube to see conditions of stomach lining. Also he may do you breathing test for helicobacter pylori which is the main cause of it.
You may need to use antiacids such Pepto-Bismol or maalox found over the counter in pharmacy to ease symptoms.
Taking buscopan can help you with abdominal pain.
I would have treated you empirically with omeprazole, ppi that can help reduce acidic secretion of stomach.
