Question: Hi

I have been using mirena for about 3 years now. I always had regular periods since the IUD was inserted. However I missed my last period (last month). Since then I've been experiencing occassional spotting. The last week I've been experiencing constant diahrrea, cramping and spotting.

I dont know whats going on.

Brief Answer:
Feedback, prebiotics, hemostatic medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
I welcome you to HCM virtual clinic.
I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

First of all do not panic.

In my opinion your symptoms can be due to either disturbed action of hormone in the Mirena IUD or some kind of inflammatory conditions of endometrium that is th lining of the uterus.

I would like to know about few things in detail from your side.
1. When did you have your last menstrual period?
2. Have you checked for the position of IUD with your gynecologist in the recent past?
3. Have you done USG - sonography recently?

I will suggest you to seek prescription support from your treating doctor for combination tablet containing Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid.
You can take upto 3 times a day as needed to control pain and spotting..
Please take prebiotics like Vibact DS once a day for 10 days.

I hope this answer helps.
Please feel free to communicate with me again.
Thanks.
