Brief Answer:
little pain left throat is normal due to inflammatory cervical node.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* As per my clinical experience, the presence of little pain in left side of
throat when undergoing evaluation for glandular fever is normal due to
underlying reactive inflammation of cervical lymph node.

However, providing further details as follow would be helpful to answer your query more precisely.

1. Is there is noticeable swelling involving neck ?
2. Any sensation of cough, fever or other systemic features ?
3. Any previous reports of lab if done and available ?

Awaiting for your response.
Regards.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up.

The left side swelling is sequence of the viral or bacterial infection of upper respiratory tract.

Though final management depends upon the culture of the throat swab, my guidelines at present

- drink plenty of liquids including boiled water
- do gargles with salted lukewarm water added peppermint oil and epsom
salt on alternate basis 4-5 times a day
- avoid cold drinks, sugary dairy items consumption
- avoid public transport till possible and use face mask wisely
- multi vitamin and minerals can help weakness recovery
- discuss the further antibiotic prescription need as per the awaited report
during next scheduled follow up appointment
- paracetamol or acetaminophen consumption after meals for 3 times a day
will give pain and discomfort relief

All the symptoms will subside over a period of time by remaining in regular
follow up with your doc and following all prescription guidelines.

Wish you best recovery.
Take care.

Thankyou he said not to use any more antibiotics. As nothing can treat viral. What do you reckon it is glandula fever or a different upper infection.
And yes I will do Thankyou and no I won’t be going out at all very tired and staying safe

Thankyou very much I will do all that. I have been ill since the 3rd March. Will this just be a matter of how long my body needs to recover before I’m better?
