Question: Hi, I have had a skin rash since my late teens / early 20's that doesnt seem to go away. its situated on the left side of my chest below my nipple on the ribs. It does vary in severity. sometimes it is barely noticeable. Ocasionally it does get itchy but usually a moisturizing cream sooths it. I have seen a couple of GPs one 4 or 5 years ago and another a couple of weeks ago. They have assured me the rash is benign. Recently i was prescribed a steroid cream called dermovate. I think it has made the rash a little worse (see photos) So I have stopped using it and asked for a 2nd opinion on this site. I was told it could be Acneform Eruption and was told to use Benzoyl Peroxide. I, however, forgot to ask some follow up questions and wondered if you can help Firstly, does it look benign to you? what do you think it could be? Should I be concerned I have had it for 15 or so years. do you recommend any other treatments? When using Benzoyl Peroxide how long will it take before I can see some results? i am a fit and healthy 35 year old male with no other symptons photos are attached. one is with the flash on. thank you for your time.

Brief Answer:
Angiomas, spider nevus possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I see the photo you attached and it looks much like spider nevus or angiomas.
They are. widening of small capillaries or veins due to hormonal changed such adolescence or sun exposure. I think they are benign and nothing to worry about in your case. The hormonal changes you had may have caused them to be formed.
I don't think corticosteroids can work.
Only laser treatment can work on them.
You don't have to treat them if they don't bother you. They are benign and not dangerous.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
