Hi. I Have Had Very Loose Stool Every Day For
Question: Hi. I have had very loose stool every day for the past year. I had a colonoscopy one month ago (not for this issue) and everything was good. I have a few pockets in my colon, but they are not inflamed and he said they were just hereditary. I asked if they could be the reason for my loose bowels, and he said no. He recommended I take Align for two weeks, but that changed nothing. I'm currently going through menopause, and I wondered if hormone changes could be to blame. I usually stick to a low-carb diet, so I probably don't get as much fiber as I need. Could this be a factor also?

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I don't think that pockets in bowel or menopause can cause chronic diarrhoea.
I can recommend you to do a stool culture to check for infection.
Possibly a fast bowel transit can cause diarrhoea also clouding too much fiber in your diet.
I also would recommend you to check thyroid hormone levels because hyperthyroidism may cause fast bowel transit.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
