Hi.. I Have Torn A Muscle Or Possible Tendon In

Can be torn muscle or fascia.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The description you have given is suggestive of a torn muscle or a fascia. The healing depends on the length of fascia that is torn. The indentation is less likely to improve but the pain and strength of muscle can regain with rest in 4-6 weeks. You need to get an MRI scan done to assess the exact damage that has happened. Most of the times a surgical repair is not needed in such cases.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

I’m an avid down hill skier and we use the quads quite a bit for this.. will I have higher tendency to injure even after it is fully healed? If I get surgery even though it is not required will it be stronger?
I’m assuming this can be a day surgery at the right clinic. I just want to make an informed decision if there is a choice between surgery and no surgery.
I will get an an MRI done as you suggested.
Thanks for your helpful information!
Depends on the extent of damage.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You have a large indentation and can be due to tendon rupture. Surgery is a better option in case it is more than a partial rupture. Chances of reinjury or delayed healing are present. Get an MRI scan and plan for surgery accordingly. A day care surgery is possible if it is a small tear.
Hope my answer is helpful.
