                                            Question : Hi,
I just had surgery for my back, the surgeon used the old style to fix my L1 fracture. I asked him to use the minimalist invasive way but he refused although the other surgeons whom where with him said I could do a minimalist invasive surgery!
Anyway, I attached the pictures of my surgery, I think the rods are to close to each others please correct me if I'm wrong.
Do you think this surgey was done correctly?
Thank you.

                                    Brief Answer:
The stabilizing system is in a correct position.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for using "Ask a Doctor " service.
I have read your query and here is my advice.
I saw the x-rays after the surgery that you uploaded too.
The aim of such operations is to achieve stability for the damaged part of the vertebral column.
According the x-rays, the screws are positioned correctly and the rods are fixed correctly too.
It is not so important if the rods are close to each other, I think the stability is achieved.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
