Question : Hi, I need advice. I am planning to switch over from 50 of zoloft to 10 mg of celexa. I wanted to know how I should transition. Can I just start the celexa tomorrow at 10 mg and not worry too much about the side effects - or will it be really tough? I need to feel better. The zoloft did help with my anxiety but also makes me feel completely numb, i do not feel happiness just a flat numb emotion. Which I do not like. I have had success in the past with celexa but i gained weight so i plan to just make sure i am on top of my diet and exercise. Please advise. thanks

Brief Answer:
It will be most likely smooth

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Although I answered you three days back but it appears that it did not help you much, leading to a second post at healthcaremagic platform.

First of all I do not find any problem with abrupt discontinuation of Zoloft while going for Celexa. Since both the medications act on serotonergic receptors the celexa will take care of withdrawal symptoms of Zoloft in precise manner.

Secondly there must not be a problem with side effect of Celexa as you have already used it in the past and it worked for you.

Thirdly it is true that Celexa is less likely to cause numbness which you are experiencing with use of Zoloft.

Considering the above facts I feel transition to Celexa will be near to smooth and far away from tough.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
