Question : Hi, I was treated for latent tuberculosis in 2018. I took 4 months of medication, but it never became active. From my understanding, there was no way to tell if the treatment eradicated it completely, and the pulmonary specialist described it as a bacterial in my lungs that is sleeping and the medication will keep it sleeping. I am concerned with Covid 19. Am I at higher risk for lung complications from it, and to I need to take extra precaution like working from home? I am a teacher and the last day with students is tomorrow. However, I have to continue to be in campus. People at higher risk are able to work from home with a doctor's note. Would I be considered at higher risk?
Brief Answer:
No, you are not at higher risk.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
No need to worry as you are not in high risk group for Corona Virus infection.
Patients with immunosuppression, diabetes, end stage kidney disease, pregnancy etc are high risk for Corona Virus infection.
Since you are not having any of the above mentioned condition, I don't think you are in high risk group for Corona infection.
You can definitely visit your school with routine standard precautions.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
