Question: Hi. I was wondering How much time is recommended to wait to try to conceive again after having an ectopic pregnancy with injection?

There was no surgery. Just out of curiosity is the 3 month wait needed because of the drug injection or a combination of factors? I am willing to wait though because I know ectopics can be dangerous and I don’t want to risk anything. Thank you so much.

It's advisable to wait for atleast 3-4 month after treatment for ectopic pregnancy with methotrexate. It is to be done to avoid adverse effects of medicine in baby.

The second reason is your menstrual period will be regularize Meanwhile.

The third reason is that in 3 month any injury to fallopian tube will be heal completely.

Fourth reason is that you will regain confidence and emotionally become stable until that.

I do have one more question and that should be all. Once my hcg levels return to zero will the first bleed that I get be a period? I heard it won’t be an actual period just my body trying to settle back.

I have read your question and below is my answer.

You might be given methotrexate injection for ectopic pregnancy. So gradually within few days your Hcg level will go down.

Meanwhile after injection your first bleeding will start within week and it will be not your period.
But the bleeding and cramps might be heavier like that of period.

Within 2-3 month your period will be regularize and you can try conception.

I suggest you to consult your gynecologist according to appointment.
