Question : Hi. I would like to ask about cabergoline tablets. My boyfriend was prescribed by his doctor to use them as he has high prolactin. I would like to know how long does he have to take them to get results. How long you recommend to take them. Are these tablets to help the mood swings as well?what are the side effects? He feels very tired anxious headaches and depressed. What is the best way to help him please.

Please let me know details about current tablet cabergoline dosage and schedule?

Usually tablet cabergoline dosage is increased every 4 weekly as per the prolactin level.

Once prolactin level is normalized, maintaince dose will be continued for next 6 months along with monthly prolactin check up.

As per your history, fatigue, headache, depression are the side effects of tablet cabergoline. Other side effects may be nausea, nervousness, sometimes abdominal pain.

So I would suggest you to consult with endocrinologist for detailed examination. He may adjust the dosage as per the evaluation.

It's a dosage of 5mg taken 2 times prr week. I would like to know what the prolactin is why it is important, what are the reasons that it increases, and what happens to person when it's too high. Also the signs of headache depression weakness my boyfriend had before. Do you think these are the reasons why the prolactin is high and it effected his wellbeing before this happened?

I would like to also ask if taking vitamin supplements and fish oil is possible to take with cabergoline, would there be any contraindications? What would you recommend to add as a natural products. And also will these tablets cure the prolactin level to normal stage once the treatment is completed?

Dose may be 0.5 mg twice weekly. Dosage adjustment will be as per prolactin level.

Increase in prolactin level may cause headache, visual impairment, reduced sexual drive.

There can be several causes for increase in prolactin level which should be get evaluated by endocrinologist.

There is no any clinical evidence shown interaction between tablet cabergoline and vitamin supplements/fish oil.

Hi. I would like to know if St John's worth supplement is good with taking these cabergoline tablets. Will it have any side effects by taking them?
