Question: Hi, I%E2%80%99m 16 years old and for the past three days I%E2%80%99ve been having brown spotting, and just today it started to turn red. I%E2%80%99m not supposed to get my period for another week, I was wondering maybe if it was ovulation. I had small cramps on the first day and now I feel completely fine. I looked it up online and it gave me a lot of things that could be the case for this and it%E2%80%99s stressing me out. I%E2%80%99m also on birth control and my periods started to become regular.

I am so sorry to hear about this spotting and all the inconveniences this might have caused you. I will like to know if you are sexually active or not. If you are, do you use systematic protection like condoms? Beside this spotting, any pain, odor, or painful urination?

Hi thank you for responding, I am sexually active with my boyfriend of almost two years. We do wear condoms and are always safe, and we always check after to see if the condom breaks. The blood doesn’t smell like anything except for usual period blood smells. There’s no pain at all except on the first day there were small cramps other then that there wasn’t much else.

The brown blood has stayed the same but there’s sometimes brown stringy discharge. I have small cramps but my period should be here within 2-6 days, could it just be my body getting rid of old blood before my period. I’m really hoping it’s not pregnancy but I swear we’ve always been safe and I’m even on birth control.

The blood had now turned red and i believe i have sharted my period. do you think it was just my body getting rid of old blood
