Question : Hi, I’ve had a protected sex (with condom) with a sex worker about a year ago and since then I’ve experienced multiple hiv related symptoms, such as swollen glands, body rash that occurs from my waist to thigh, catching flu frequently. However, I’ve done 3 rapid tests (all 3 tests were done 4 months after sex) that I brought from stores and all results came back negative. And I also did a complete blood test in a lab (but did not test for HIV antibody) and the results were mostly normal. And more recently, there is a little lump on the head of my penis that cause itchiness. Should I still be worried about the situation because the symptoms doesn’t seem to go away.
Brief Answer:
Shingles is possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think the symptoms you are experiencing are not much related to HIV. I see the photo you attached and I think the rash from waist to thigh you are having is related to shingles (viral infection caused by varicella zoster virus). It is not sexually transmitted.
You can use acyclovir about it to help healing and stop spreading.
Also use calamine lotion over them.
The bump in penis doesn't seem much important or related to a disease.
It probably is caused by irritation.
Hope I have answered the question.

The bump on my penis has lasted for more than one week and it doesn’t seem to go away and is getting itchier. What may be the cause?
Brief Answer:
Fungal infection possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I see the images you attached and are far more clear than first one.
The rash and itching you are having looks more like fungal infection caused most probably by candida albicans.
You can find in pharmacy otc preparations with clotrimazole or miconazole, ointments, to put over it to help healing.
You may have sexually contracted the infection.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.

And am I in risk of HIV?
Also, I’ve not been sexually active for more than 7 months, so is fungal infection of penis acquirable without sexually transmitted?
Brief Answer:
You can do all tests
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again. Since you had unprotected intercourse with a sex worker doing all std tests can be necessary. Of course doing unprotected intercourse has the possibility of contracting HIV.
Fungal infection can stay for a long time and develop gradually. To some extent it can be acquired sexually but mostly its from stress, low immunity and unclean water.
I was giving an opinion on the pictures but doing all std tests is a good idea.

Sorry to bother again, just to clarify, but I think I wrote I’ve had protected sex with sex worker (never had unprotected sex in my life), and I’ve done 3 rapid tests and all come back negative, so my question is: do you think a complete STD test is necessary? And is the rapid test trustable?
Brief Answer:
If protected, test is not necessary
Detailed Answer:
OK if it was protected with condom the risk of STD is low. The rapid test is trustable.
The STD test is not necessary if you had protected intercourse.
